NE-02 candidate Sen. Tony Vargas raises over $250,000 in first 24 hours

Press Release   Posted by Tony Vargas · July 06, 2023

Omaha, Neb. – The Tony Vargas for Congress campaign announced today that he has raised over $250,000 in his first 24 hours since entering the race for Nebraska’s 2nd district and that more than 80 percent of their day one donations came from Nebraskans.

Vargas’s 24-hour total exceeds the total amount raised in direct contributions from individual donors by Rep. Don Bacon in the entire first quarter and builds on Vargas’s fundraising success in the 2022 cycle, where he raised more from Nebraskans than Rep. Bacon.

“I am thrilled and humbled to receive this outpouring of support from family, friends, neighbors, and Nebraska voters,” Vargas said. “It’s clear now more than ever that Nebraskans are ready for strong, principled leadership that will be focused on strengthening the middle class and growing the economy. I’ve done that in the Nebraska Legislature – where I voted for the largest tax cuts in Nebraska history — and I’m ready to continue that leadership in Washington.”

Vargas launched his campaign yesterday morning:

"Inflation is still making it hard for people," said Vargas. "Housing hasn't been affordable enough. These issues that affect people have not been solved by our current Congressman and they are not being solved by our current Congress. So we need to make sure we're showing up for Americans.” - KETV

“He [Vargas] said voters were “excited” by his message of “cutting middle-class taxes, growing the economy, protecting women’s health care, and keeping our communities safe from gun violence.” - Nebraska Examiner
